Mokomoko

Stars align

Everything feels right

Took a chance

Didn’t let it fly by

Sky dilating

Confidence missing

Keep counting all the time

Ka puritia ngā tikanga kia mau

Ka titia rā ki te ngākau kia tina

Ko ngā akoranga

tuku iho

Cloud 9

For a moment

Then I fall behind

Kinda poetic

sky separating

Pride deflating

Keep counting all the time

When I walk

When I sleep

And when I wake!

Ka tāheia hei whakakai marihi

Kia āwhina

Kia tiaki

Kia ārahi

Mokomoko - a translation

Chorus: We do our best to hold onto the right ways

We hold it in our heart until it is fixed

The teachings

handed down

Bridge: Wear it around your neck as a beautiful ornament

To help you

To watch you

To guide you
